D-ROLF on the road to Africa
Or: we are all in the same Trabi.

D-ROLF is known all over town. And he gets around much, both at home here in Germany and abroad.

Soon he drives to Africa. A Long journey for an important matter. For this long journey he needs something that he can depend on. That is hard to find in our times. D-ROLF takes his Trabi when it really matters.

D-ROLF what's in the name?

He answers this question with:
The "D" is for Deutschland - Germany, there I come from.Or for "Drehorgel" – German for hand organ or hurdy-gurdy.After all I have according to the Guinness book of records the world record in playing the Hand organ.

But that is not the most important. More important is the connecting hyphen. That stands for what I really do. Connecting.Connecting people with people and connecting ideas with the people who are inspired by these ideas.

Trabi - What does it mean?

The people who know the Trabi can't believe that there are people who don’t.And those who get to know it can’t believe that the Trabi can actually drive.

The Trabi is easy to explain:
When in East-Germany you were the proud owner of a car, then you were mostly the owner of a Trabi.Perhaps a small detail: The outside of this little car is made of what at best can be described as hard cardboard."Sparkplug with a roof" and so on, many nick names for this unusual little car that one call Trabant.

D-ROLF's tour to South-Africa in numbers:

Were my car breaks dwon most people never even come to.

D-ROLF was with his Trabi in many places.

  • 1993 Pairs-Dakar - At the start are thousand of PS, D-ROLF is with 26 of this on the way.
  • 1990 D-ROLF with his Trabi in America on Route 66
  • 2000 D-ROLF in Australia: Twice "coast to coast"
  • New Delhi and Madagascar are on his Agenda as are Las Vegas - Salt Lake City with a "High-Speed Trabi" and, in the footsteps of Albert Schweitzer, Lambarene.

Now it is time to go to South-Africa.

Time for a new Adventure

When D-ROLF was the first time in 1998 in South-Africa, in the "normal" way with an airplane, like all other Europeans, he said to himself:"Here I want to come again, and then with my `Racing cardboard´".

At the time he also saw the dark side of this so Sunny Country.People that live in poverty. Children, so many children that needs a chance in life. All people deserve a chance in life. The chances that life gives are D-ROLFs speciality. There he knows his stuff.

That is why D-ROLF's Trabi will be fully laden when he starts for South-Africa.He will plan his trip intensively. He will talk to everyone. D-ROLF will collect many Euros and will unload it at the children in south-Africa.With the donations he collects he supports a project that will open a change in life for the children

After all we all sit in the same Trabi!
